The default application for <phrase>Kubuntu</phrase> is <menuchoice><guimenu>Kickoff Application Launcher</guimenu><guisubmenu>Applications</guisubmenu><guisubmenu>Internet</guisubmenu><guimenuitem>IRC Client (Quassel IRC)</guimenuitem></menuchoice>. <acronym>IRC</acronym> is a great place to hang out with people and find more information about <phrase>Kubuntu</phrase> and the official channel is irc.ubuntu.com channel #kubuntu.

<phrase>Kubuntu</phrase> ships with the <application>Microblogging Plasma Widget</application> which supports both Twitter and Identi.ca which is enabled by default. If you have removed this widget and would like to add the desktop widget back, simply <mousebutton>right</mousebutton> click on the desktop, and select <guimenuitem>Add Widgets...</guimenuitem>. Simply click and drag the widget to the desktop and configure it for either Twitter or Identi.ca.
