However, any modern operating system permits multiple users to operate the computer while preserving their own personal settings and files. On Ubuntu, each user has their own <emphasis>home directory</emphasis> in which files and settings are stored. Further, each user can be part of one or more <emphasis>groups</emphasis>, which define which parts of the system that user has access to.
Ubunturen instalazioan zehar, erabiltzaile arrunt eta pasahitz bat sortzen dira. Halaere, gaur egungo edozein sistema-eragiletan egon daitezke erabiltzaile ugari, bakoitza bere ezarpen eta fitxategiekin. Ubuntun, erabiltzaile bakoitzak bere <emphasis>etxe-direktorioa</emphasis> dauka, bertan bere fitxategi eta ezarpenak gordetzeko. Gainera, erabiltzaile bakoitza <emphasis>talde</emphasis> batean edo ugaritan egon daiteke, sistemaren zein zatitara iritsi daitekeen definitzeko.
